A policeman was shot dead by his colleague following a quarrel on Wednesday night in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Constable Mohammad Younis of Reasi died after his colleague constable Iqbal Singh of Hiranagar fired at him following a heated argument and quarrel, KNO reported. Singh fired 4 to 5 bullets at his colleague killing him on the spot.

The news agency quoted Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kathua, Ramesh Kotwal saying that the duo exchanged heated words over some issue after returning to their barracks from duty in the District Police Line, Kathua.

 “In a fit of rage, one of them shot at another with an official AK-47 rifle leaving him dead on the spot,” he said.

The accused cop was overpowered and later arrested.

“We are investigating the matter,” the SSP said.
