The High Court Bar Association has condemned the alleged physical assault of Advocate Parvaiz Ahmad Malik, at District Court Kulgam, by the Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Kulgam, Imtiyaz Hussain, and his office clerks at the Deputy Commissioner (DC) office Kulgam.

As per the lawyers, the ACR Kulgam abused his powers and derailed the registration of legal documents, which was time and again legally objected to by these lawyers.

Later, ACR Kulgam had allegedly retained the said advocate’s document for more than two months and refused to register it for unknown reasons that led to the exchange of legal arguments between the said advocate and ACR Kulgam.

As per a statement by the Association, the concerned ACR has been abusing his powers and assaulting the advocate Parvaiz Ahmad Malik physically which has inflicted injuries on the said advocate. The statement claimed that Malik was also put behind bars by the ACR’s misusing of police power.

“Against these atrocities committed on Malik and the unbearable behavior of ACR,” the members of Bar Association Kulgam sought appropriate action against him.

“We feel it appropriate that proper vigilance deserves to be ensued to check the corrupt practices during the course of registration of documents by the revenue authorities across J-K,” the J-K High Court Bar Association comments.

However, the J-K High Court Bar Association while expressing solidarity with the members of Bar Association Kulgam has advised the Bar Association Kulgam to file a criminal complaint against the erring ACR and his staff in the Court of Law to seek justice for the victim lawyer. (KNB)
