In a bizarre incident, a man from Pattan area of Baramulla district got e-challan for his vehicle for violating traffic rules in Rajasthan, where he never visited.

Vehicle owner, Abdul Ahad Yatoo said that he got the e-challan of Rs 10,000 for his vehicle bearing registration number JK05F 1965 via SMS  for violating traffic rules in Rajasthan.

“I was shocked when I suddenly received an SMS on my mobile phone that myvehicle has been challaned for not having driving license and carrying over height load while plying in Ganganagar area of Rajasthan,” Yatoo said.

He said that he has not been outside of Jammu and Kashmir so it was surprising for him to recieve a Challan from Rajasthan state.

Divisional Inspector General (DiG) Traffic Kashmir, Javid Ahmad Koul said that there is no need to panic as the vehicle owner must contest the challan with the traffic department of Rajasthan to resolve the issue.

He said some sometimes criminals use fake number plates to carry stolen vehicles to other states. (KNS)
