Srinagar: An eight-year-old girl has sustained critical head injuries after hit by an Army vehicle at Bumhama locality along highway in north Kashmir’s Kupwara on Saturday evening.

Reports said that a minor girl identified as Muddabirah Ismail daughter of Mohammed Ismail Dar residence Bumhama, came under an Army vehicle – Ashok Leyland Stallion – in the locality resulting in her sustaining critical head injuries.

The girl was removed to sub-District Hospital Kupwara wherefrom she has been referred to a tertiary Srinagar hospital for advanced treatment.

Meanwhile, a police official has confirmed the accident and said that a police team has arrested the erring driver even as taking the vehicle into seizure.

“An FIR number 356/2020 has been registered in this regard under sections 279, 337 and further investigations taken up in this regard”, the official said. (GNS)
