After a seven-year-old girl died in an accident on Thursday, the locals staged a protest against the incident in Damjan village of Qazigund in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, reported a local news agency, Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

Unidentified police sources told the agency that a tractor, without a registration number, hit a seven-year-old girl near Damjan. The deceased girl was identified as Zareena Jan, daughter of Shabir Ahmad Bhat of Damjan Qazigund.

Soon after the incident, the locals blocked link road at Damjan where the tractor and tipper drivers carry construction materials, demanding that the authorities must block this road for the heavy motor vehicles. The protest was going on when the report was last filed. (KNO)
