Srinagar: A 65-year-old woman was injured after being hit with a bullet in Central Kashmir’s Wulina Ichgam area of district Budgam.
The woman identified as Fatima wife of late Ghulam Rasool was hit with a bullet when she was in her house, “She was cleaning vegetables on the house’s veranda when the bullet hit her leg,” a relative of the woman who identified himself as Sajad Hussain Bhat told The Kashmir Walla.
Locals alleged that bullets from the firing site hitting houses has been a daily affair in the village for months, however today it was “destructive”, ” Glasses of windows are shattered, the bullets hit rooftops too, it was very scary today,” said Ali Mohammad Rather a member of the local Auqaf Committee.
He said that the residents of the village who have been at the receiving end of the forces practice firing have been complaining about the ordeal but their pleas have fallen to deaf ears, “We have sought help from every official including Deputy commissioner and Tehsildar, but nobody seems to care about our ordeal,” Rather added.
Meanwhile, people demanding closure of the firing site had blocked the Budgam-Chadoora road and demanded stern action against government forces.
