Srinagar: A 62-year-old man died and another injured in a grenade blast at Zainakadal area of Srinagar city on Friday evening.

A police officer told GNS that suspected militants lobbed a grenade on a 23 bn CRPF bunker at Zainakadal in Old City.

In the attack, two pedestrians suffered splinter injuries and were immediately shifted to SMHS hospital, the officer said. “Among the injured, one person Ghulam Nabi Ahanger (62), a resident of Astan Mohalla Zainakadal succumbed to injuries,” he said. The deceased was a former PDD employee.

The officer identified the injured as Rafiq Ahmad.

Soon after the incident, SOG, police and CRPF cordoned off the area and started searches to nab the attackers. (GNS)
