Jammu and Kashmir Police Friday said to have recovered around sixty kilograms of hoarded poppy straw from a residential house here in Doonipora Sangam area.

Acting on information through reliable sources that Aijaz Ahmad Mir and Gh Mohi-ud-Din Mir sons of Mohd Maqbool Mir both residents of Doonipora Sangam are involved in drug peddling have hoarded a large quantity of contraband substance in their residential house, a team comprising of SDPO Bijbehara, SHO Bijbehara, DO Sangam and Executive Magistrate Bijbehara was constituted to carry out searches at the specified location, reads a statement issued to GNS.

During the searches of the house, it read, three nylon bags containing about sixty kilograms of Poppy Straw (Fukki) were recovered from the house.

A case FIR number 188/2021 under relevant sections of NDPS Act was registered against the accused duo, siblings to each other, and both of them arrested on the spot, it further read. (GNS)
