Srinagar: At least 55 teachers have been suspended for being unauthorized absent from their duties across north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, officials said.

An official said that absence of teachers was monitored till Thursday and a collective suspension all the 55 teachers was issued, reported wire-service KNO.

An official said that many teachers from different zones across the district including Handwara were found absent from Monday; therefore all those found absent since then have been suspended.

He said that during inspections by Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Tangdhar Dr Bilal Ahmad at different educational institutions, it was learnt that about 30 teachers were absent from their duties.

The report in this regard was later submitted before the Chief Educational Officer (CEO) Kupwara for further course of action.

Meanwhile, around 25 teachers across Kupwara and Handwara were also found absent from the duties, the official said.

The official said that taking cognizance, a suspension order of all the 55 teachers was issued on Thursday. (KNO)
