In a significant success in its anti-narcotics drive against the drug peddlers in the district, Kupwara Police today morning arrested two persons involved in the sale of narcotics in the district.
Acting on specific information, a special naka was established at Krusan Lolab by a team of Police Station Lalpora led by SHO Mushtaq Ahmad, the police said in its statement.
During the course of naka checking, a vehicle bearing the registration number was intercepted and put into sustained search.
During the search of the vehicle, a huge consignment of banned drug containing 450 bottles of Codeine was recovered from the vehicle. Two persons involved in the commission of a crime and boarding the said vehicle were identified as Mudasir Ahmad Shah, son of late Mohd Abdullah Shah, an employee in the Education department and Esar Ahmad Shah son of Aman Ullah Shah, both residents of Darpora Lolab were arrested from the spot,” the statement read.
During preliminary investigations, it has come to the fore that the duo had procured the banned drug from outside Jammu and Kashmir and were on their way to their area of residence to sell the drugs.
“Case FIR No. 49/2022 under sections 8/21, 29 NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Lalpora and investigations were taken up,” it read.
More arrests in the case are expected in the case.
