In a heart-wrenching incident, at least three thousand Islamic literature books at a religious seminary at Chandigam Sogam in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district were gutted in a fire incident on Saturday morning.

A seminary staffer informed that the fire broke out early Saturday morning from the rooftop engulfing the top storey of the building.

He said the structure suffered damage and many important books of Islamic literature were damaged.

An official said apart from the firefighters from the concerned department, the army reached the spot to douse the flames.

He said that their efforts were to get things under control and ensure there is no human loss.

The seminary staff has asked the valley people to come out for their support and help them rebuild the damaged building. (KNO)
