Nearly 25 lakh people in India are currently infected with the COVID19 while 2.43 crore people have so far been discharged since the pandemic began last year, according to official data.
The data shared by India’s Ministry of Health states that 24.95 lakh people are “active positive”, currently infected with the disease that has left patients gasping for oxygen as healthcare infrastructure across main cities had failed.
More than three lakh people have so far died, according to the official estimate, due to the disease. India, during the last 24 hours, recorded 4157 deaths.
India’s COVID numbers surged at an unprecedented pace during the second wave of the pandemic as two to four lakh people are testing positive for the infection on daily basis during the past two months.
