Rohit Kansal has tested positive for COVID-19 as Jammu and Kashmir is grappled by an unprecedented rise in cases during the second wave of the pandemic.

Kansal, who is principal secretary power and information and the official spokesperson of the government, tweeted the development.

He wrote: “After dodging the Coronavirus for the entire last year, I have tested positive today; have some symptoms- but my spirits are high. #WeShallOvercome”

On 9 April, Kansal had taken first COVID-19 vaccine dose at Jammu’s Gandhinagar Hospital. He had thanked the hospital “for a smooth and anxiety free experience”.
