The Kashmir Walla, Staffer, Anis Wani has been awarded the ‘Cultures of Resistance Creative Activism Award’ for his work.

Twenty-four-year-old, Wani who hails from Srinagar’s Khanyar area works as a cartoonist in the organization.

Three other Kashmiris – Mariyeh Mushtaq, Numair Qadri, and Syed Mujtaba Rizvi have also received the award for their works.

Talking about the achievement, he said, “The award is not just about me as an individual but it’s also for the creative community which speaks against power and more importantly it’s for Kashmir.”

The Creative Activism Awards (CAA) were created by director Iara Lee as a way of recognizing artists, musicians, poets, writers, designers, dancers, and other creators whose work is connected to human rights, the environment, economic and global justice, and cultural resistance.

The awards were designed to encourage recipients to maintain and expand their important work in pursuit of social justice and creative expression.
