The Jammu and Kashmir Police is going to install 3000 CCTV cameras in all 20 districts of the erstwhile state, reported the News Now.
According to the report the police has tied up with Ernst and Young a United Kingdom-based consultant company.
This company will visit all the districts and prepare a report and hand it over to the police headquarters, in which it will be told that CCTV cameras are to be installed.
“How high are the cameras to be installed? What quality cameras are needed and their operation will be given to the Jammu and Kashmir Police. Engineers of the company will visit the state in December so that it can prepare its report. Maximum cameras are installed in both the state capitals Jammu and Srinagar,” the newspaper report added.
Apart from this, cameras are also to be installed on the 300-kilometer long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. A control room will be created at the district level to operate these cameras. In which police personnel will be deployed and will keep an eye on every activity happening on camera.
Under this ambitious project of Central Home Department, an amount of Rs 116 crores has been sanctioned for installation of three thousand CCTV cameras in the entire state.
