FakeNewsAlert: No second positive case of Covid-19 in Srinagar

The news about second case testing positive in Kashmir is fake. Several social media handles had reported the development, however the authorities debunked the news.

Government spokesman Rohit Kansal tweeted “#COVID19
#JammuAndKashmir
Friends stay calm. Do not circulate or believe rumours. There is only ONE positive case in Kashmir so far. NO RUMOURS PLEASE
@diprjk @HealthMedical.”

Only one person has been tested positive for Covid-19, who is a resident of Srinagar and the government has ordered restrictions in the district from tomorrow.

Meanwhile Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Shahid Choudhary, while taking to his twitter handle wrote that action will be taken on those peddling fake news.

“Rumours and unverified information shared on social media will certainly attract strict action. Let’s act like responsible citizens. Every information /advisory will be shared officially. #Srinagar #Coronavirus,” tweeted Choudhary.
