The district administration Srinagar has geared up to tackle the rising number of COVID-19 positive cases and has established seven COVID Care Centers with 1300 bed capacity to accommodate the increasing patient footfall within the district.
Officials told a local news agency, Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that the rush of patients who are tested positive for COVID-19 has increased at the Valley hospitals especially within the Srinagar City.
They said it has been observed that the number of COVID positive cases in Srinagar district have shown a steep rise in the last few days, which spurs the requirement for augmentation of infrastructure to accommodate increasing patient footfall.
Officials said that a total of seven COVID Care Centers have been established at Kashmir University Zakura Campus, Hyderpora facility, NIT Srinagar, Indoor Stadium Haft Chinar Srinagar, Marriage Hall Sanatnagar, Haj House Bemina and IMPA Hostel MA Road.
They said 1300 beds will be made available in these Centers, saying that bed capacity at KU Zakura Campus will be 324, 300 at Hyderpora facility, 294 at NIT Srinagar, 120 at Indoor Stadium Haft Chinar Srinagar, 100 at Marriage Hall Sanatnagar, 82 at Haj House Bemina and 80 at IMPA Hostel MA Road.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Muhammad Aijaz Asad told KNO that the additional 1300 beds will be ready in next three days.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Srinagar, Syed Muhammad Hanief Balkhi while giving details in this regard said that the patients with mild symptoms will be accommodated in the COVID-19 Care centers.
“Like previous year, many COVID-19 centres have been established again in Srinagar where oxygen facilities other than the beds will be made available,” he said, adding that the administration has geared up in this regard since morning and is ensuring that all the facilities including oxygen is made available at the Centers.
Meanwhile, with regard to the COVID care centers, several officers have been assigned with different responsibilities.
