Violent protests erupted in two villages of south Kashmir’s Shopian district after government forces launched a cordon and search operation (CASO).

As per reports scores of youth hit the streets in Tekkipora and Ronipora villages in Dangam area of Shopian district this afternoon when army and policemen along with paramilitary CRPF laid a siege in the twin villages to launch combing operations.

Chanting slogans, the youth hurled rocks at the government forces to resist the CASO.

In retaliation government forces used tear gas canisters to disperse youth which lead to clashes as youth regrouped and continued throwing rocks on forces.
