Valley gripped by cold wave, Srinagar freezes at minus 1.4 degree Celsius

Cold wave conditions again engulfed the Kashmir Valley and the Ladakh region on Saturday as minimum temperatures dipped below the freezing point.

In Ladakh region Leh was the coldest place of the state where minimum temperature was minus 9.4 degrees Celsius while Kargil froze at minus 8.5 degrees Celsius .

In the capital city, Srinagar minimum temperature was minus 1.4 degree Celsius, while it was minus 5.0 degrees Celsius  in Pahalgam the famous pilgrimage place. Gulmarg froze at minus 3.3 degrees.

At most places in the Valley, the minimum temperatures have again dropped below the freezing point, because of the clear night sky. The weather is likely to remain mainly dry in the state till December 10, MeT said.
