ULB polls second phase in J&K: Live updates

The second phase of the Urban Local Bodies polls started as early as 6:00 am on Wednesday  with 1,029 candidates  in fray across Jammu and Kashmir.

881 candidates in Jammu division and 148 in Kashmir division – are in the fray for 263 municipal wards, including 49 in Kashmir and 214 in Jammu

The voting would take place at 544 polling stations across Jammu and Kashmir  and would end at 4 pm.

4: :45 PM : The polls for north Kashmir’s Sumbal municipal committee witnessed highest voter turnout today of 35.64 percent as compared to other places where elections were held today.

3: 45 pm:  2624 registered voters on Wednesday exercised their franchise in Municipal Elections at Sumbal in northern Kashmir’s Bandipora district till 3 PM.

While as not a single person turned up to cast their vote in Srinagar’s Parimpora area.

2: 00 pm: 25.42% people cast their votes in Sumbal municipal area of northern Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Wednesday till 1 pm.

12:45 pm:  261 votes have been cast at the polling booths for the 16 wards till 12 noon in Anantnag district on Wednesday. A total of 38 candidates are in fray for the 16 wards in the south Kashmir district.

11:40 am:  not a single voter turns up in 17 polling booths of Srinagar.

10: 40 am:  In Srinagar’s Chatabal area 14 votes have been cast of polling station 3.

10:20 am:  High speed internet has been suspended in Srinagar.

10:00 am: In Srinagar’s Fateh Kadal area 9 votes have been cast in 8 polling stations.

9:50 am: 154 votes have been polled across the 44 polling booths set up for the elections of the municipal committee in south Kashmir’s  Anantnag district.

9:40 am: In Srinagar’s Munawarabad 9 votes have been cast so far in the three polling stations.

9:30 am: Brisk polling in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district. 748 people turned up at the polling booth to cast their votes. These include 435 male and 313 female voters. The voter turnout at 9:00 am was recorded 9.41 percent.

9:25 am: In Jammu’s Udhampur district 22.15% votes have been polled.

9:19 am: Restrictions have been imposed in Srinagar’s downtown area in the  wake of ULB elections.
No vehicular movement is allowed towards city centre by government forces guarding the check points that have been set up at Hawal area of Srinagar.
Notably JRL has called for a complete shutdown in poll bound areas only.
