Train services suspended across Kashmir

Train service was suspended on Saturday across Kashmir in view of the strike call by Joint Resistance Leadership against the shifting of Dukhtaran-e-Millat chief Asiya Andrabi along with her two associates Fahmeeda Sofi and Nahida Nasreen to Delhi by National Investigation Agency.

“We have suspended train service in the Kashmir valley following a fresh directive from police,” a senior railway official said.

Adding to it, there will be no train service on Srinagar-Budgam in central Kashmir to Baramulla in the north as well.

Similarly, all trains will remain suspended on Srinagar-Islamabad-Qazigund in south Kashmir with Banihal in Jammu.

This is the first time in July train service has been suspended in the valley.

The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), comprising of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, and Muhammad Yasin Malik has called for a complete shutdown on today across Kashmir.

The freedom of the press in Kashmir was touching new lows as the entire population was gradually coming out of one of the longest communication blackouts in the world.

We are not a big organization. A few thousand rupees from each one of you would make a huge difference.

The Kashmir Walla plans to extensively and honestly cover — break, report, and analyze — everything that matters to you. You can help us.
