Thousands participate in funeral prayers of slain militant in Awantipora, militants offer gun salute

Thousands of people on Thursday morning participated in the funeral procession of slain militant Showkat Ahmad Bhat at his  village Dangerpora in Padgampora area of South Kashmir’s Awantipora in Pulwama district.

Bhat was killed in a brief gunfight with the government forces at Dougam Kakapora area of the Pulwama district during Wednesday night.

A large number of people participated in the funeral prayers of Showkat despite restrictions.

As per reports  militants also appeared at the funeral prayers and offered a gun salute to slain militant.

They said that militants fired several rounds of bullets into the air and later left the place.

Showkat,  was pursuing B.Pharmacy in Kashmir University, joined militant outfit “Tehreeq Ul Mujahideen” on October 3.
