Thousands attend funerals of slain militants in Shopian

Thousands of people Saturday participated in the funeral prayers of three slain  militants who were killed during an encounter with government forces in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Reports said that young and old from across south Kashmir flocked Malikgund and Losedenow villages in southern Kashmir’s Shopian district to offer funeral prayers of the three slain militants who were killed during a gun battle at Kiloora village of the district Sopian

According to reports multiple funerals were offered to the slain militants as atmosphere reverberated with pro-freedom and pro-Pakistan slogans.

Slain local militants include Laskhar district commander  a resident of Malikgund; Waqar Ahmad, an Al-Badar militant and a resident of Malikgund and Aijaz Ahmad, also an Al-Badar militant and a resident of Losedenow.

Five militants were killed by government forces earlier in the day.
