Suhail Ahmad Sofi who was killed by police on Saturday was third from his family killed by the government forces, his father said. “In 2008, we lost Rafiq Ahmed in Army firing and in 2010, we lost Muhammad Omar in police firing,” said Abdul Ahad Sofi.

He claimed that it was Assistant Sub Inspector of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Manzoor Ahmad who killed Suhail on Saturday in Narbal area of Budgam district. “My son after offering dawn prayers slept for sometime. After putting on his school uniform he left home where ASI Manzoor caught him and slapped him without any provocation.”

“The locals in the area resented action of ASI Manzoor and succumbing to pressure he freed him. In a fit of rage, ASI Manzoor took his rifle and shot my son in the back. My son received bullet in his back and it was ASI Manzoor alias Manzoor Kaala who shot him,” said Abdul Ahad Sofi.

He said that Manzoor is a well known figure in the vicinity and he, a “corrupt and killer cop thinks that he is the ruler of the area.”

“Why are you only blaming the police constable for the act when it is a known fact that it was Manzoor Kaala who killed my son,” Sofi asked.

He said that his son was efficient and intelligent and you can check this from Government Higher Secondary School, Narbal. “Suhail was only hope for me. I have four daughters and I am shattered,” he said, adding that the cops who think they rule the roost should be hanged and put to death in full public glare

Sr. Sofi added that it was shocking to him to hear CRPF killed his son. “It was not CRPF but our own local police who killed my son. These ‘drunkard’ cops should be hanged without any mercy. If the government will release and reinstate the ‘killer’ ASI Manzoor Kaala we will come on roads and will appeal to every Kashmiri to expose the shoddy dealings of the present government,” he said.
