Student shot dead in Srinagar


Srinagar: A youth was shot dead by unknown gunmen on Saturday in Naseem Bagh area of Srinagar.

He has been identified, from the identity card recovered from his possession, as Ishfaq Ahmad, a student of Islamic University of Science and Technology in Awantipora.

Earlier today a Hurriyat activist was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Bomai area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Reports reaching said that the gunmen fired upon the activist identified as Hakeem ur Rehman Sultani in Bomai area of Sopore outskirts.

SSP Srinagar Imtiaz Ismail Parray told a news agency that police team reached the spot immediately and recovered the body for legal medico formalities.

SSP further said that one pistol along with two magazines were recovered from the possession of the deceased.

He said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigation were taken up to ascertain the incident.
