Srinagar gunfight: Two cops injured, firing continues

Srinagar: Two policemen have been injured in the ongoing gunfight between the militants and the government forces in the outskirts of Srinagar.

The gunfight started in Mujgund area of Srinagar, when the exchange of fire started between the trapped militants and the forces.

Both the injured have received bullet injuries and were shifted to 92 Base Hospital in Badamibagh, sources said.

A gunfight broke out between militants and government forces earlier when some gunshots were heard after a joint team of Police and CRPF cordoned off the area.

Eyewitnesses from the area while speaking to The Kashmir Walla over phone said that youth assembled and threw stones at the forces who responded by tear gas shelling.

As per reports, people from adjacent areas are trying marching towards the encounter site.
