Srinagar gunfight: Top LeT commander Mehraj Bangroo among 4 killed


Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that top Lashkar-e-Toiba militant Mehraj ud Din Bangroo was among four persons killed in a gunfight with the government forces in Fateh Kadal area of downtown Srinagar.

Director General of Police, Dilbag Singh identified the two militants killed in a gunfight as Mehraj ud Din Bangroo and Faid Mushtaq Waza.

Singh while talking to reporters said that Bangroo was involved in several killings and weapon-snatching incidents.

He said the identity of the third “militant” was yet to be ascertained.

Two militants and a civilian were killed in the gunfight that broke out in Fateh Kadal early today morning.

Meanwhile the civilian who is also son of house owner was identified as Rayees.

Meanwhile, clashes have erupted in several places of downtown Srinagar.
