Unidentified gunmen shot dead a teen in Kashmir mosque

An 18-year-old boy was shot dead in a mosque on Tuesday night in North Kashmir’s Sopore. Police say that he was killed by Laskhar-e-Toiba militants.

Suhail Ahmed Sofi, a class 11 student had ran away when some shots where fired and he hid himself in a mosque. The unidentified gunmen entered the mosque and shot five bullets on him, killing instantly, the police said. A case FIR No 48/2013 under section 302,7/27 Arms Act was registered in Police Station Sopore.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tweeted: “Militants chase an 18-year-old boy into a mosque and shoot him. Imagine the outrage if this had been done by security forces #hypocrisy”.

A police statement said that the preliminary investigation into the killing of Suhail reveals that militants of Lashkar-e-Toiba have killed him. “Suhail was sitting with another youth Ghulam Hyder son of Ali Mohammed resident of Doabgah, in the ground near local mosque, when he was fired upon by some unknown militants. He however escaped the bullets fired by militants, and ran away towards the mosque and hid himself in the Hamam of the mosque,” the statement said, adding further that one militant however chased him and entered the mosque and pumped five bullets into him, and killed him.
