Shopian gunfight: Six militants killed, army man injured

Six militants were killed in a fierce gunfight which erupted between militants and government forces in Batagund area of Kapran in South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday in wee hours.

Reports said six militants were killed after a joint team of army’s 34RR, CRPF and SOG Shopian launched a cordon and search operation in Batagund after having credible input about the presence of some militants in the area.

A senior Police official confirmed  that six militants have been killed while earlier four militant bodies were recovered. The officer said two more bodies have been found.

However, the officer said that the identity of the slain militants is yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile in initial gunfight one army man sustained injuries and was shifted to hospital for treatment.
