The Supreme Court of India has deferred the hearing for article 35-A to second week of January.
A three- judege bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra adjourned the hearing on a batch of pleas moved by different groups and individuals challenging Article-35A.
The Supreme Court of India was hearing a bunch of petitions filed by various organisations and individuals against the Article that grants special privileges to J&K state subjects.
Tushar Mehta representing the state of Jammu and Kashmir submitted before SC, “All the security agencies are engaged in the preparation of the local body elections in the state.”
AG KK Venugopal appearing for Centre told SC,”Let local body elections finish in a peaceful manner,”
A complete shutdown is being observed in the Kashmir valley in response of the call given by Joint resistance leadership.
