SC abolishes section 377, homosexuality no longer a crime in India

The Supreme Court on Thursday abolished the section 377 of the IPC that criminalised  consensual homosexual sex in India.

A five bench of the Supreme Court unanimously read down British-era law.

While reading his judgement on the section 377 of the IPC Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra was quoted by The Quint as saying, “I am what I am. So take me as I am. No one can escape from their individuality,”
