The situation especially in south Kashmir has eased & is serving as confidence Building Measure for families who want their boys to return back home,” Vaid wrote.

Government of India offered conditional ceasefire in the holy month of Ramzan that started on May 17 on the recommendation of Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti. On May 9 Mufti had asked New Delhi to consider unilateral ceasefire starting from Ramazan till the completion of the Amarnath Yatra in August.

GoI, however, after agreeing for unilateral ceasefire had said that forces reserve the right to retaliate if attacked or if essential to protect the lives of innocent people.
