Pulwama: Two civilians killed in clashes near gunfight site

Two civilians were killed in clashes with the government forces near the site of a gunfight in Kharpora Sirnoo area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday.

The slain have been identified as Abid Hussain Lone of Kareemabad and  Amir Ahmad Palla, a resident of Ashminder village. Both are residents of  Pulwama

Abid  was injured after forces used live ammunition, pellets and tear gas to chase away protesters near the gunfight site that left three militants dead.

He was shifted to district hospital Pulwama where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Earlier, another civilian, identified as Amir Ahmad Palla, a resident of Ashminder village of Pulwama, was killed in the forces’ action.

Intense clashes erupted near the site of a gunfight in Kharpora Sirnoo area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday, leaving two civilian dead and at least three others injured.

Reports said that youth took to streets and threw stones at the forces to disrupt the anti-militant operation.

They said the forces used live ammunition, pellets and tear gas to chase away the protesters who were trying to march towards the gunfight site.

Pertinently, three militants were killed and two armymen injured after in the  encounter that broke out between militants and government forces in Kharpora, Sirnoo area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district early Saturday morning.
