Srinagar: Despite strict restrictions imposed in Pulwama, hundreds of people protested against the civilian killings on Friday.
After the congregational prayers, people from Jamia Masjid Pulwama marched towards the district headquarters.
Protests held in various part sof South Kashmir districts including Shopian. Pulwama is observing seventh day of shutdown, and following a call by traders’ body the protests marked the Friday afternoon.
Clashes were also reported from Malikpora area in Pulwama when the government forces resorted to tear gas smoke shells.
All shops and other commercial establishments, colleges and coaching centres are closed in the town for the sixth day.
Almost all roads in the town are deserted as traffic remained off the roads.
On Saturday three militants and an army man were killed in a gunfight in Sirnoo village of district Pulwama.
Seven civilians were also killed and scores of others were injured in forces action in the area on the same day.
Meanwhile, protests were also held in downtown Srinagar near the Jamia Masjid.
