In pictures: Protests in Kashmir, one youth killed

Fresh protests started in Kashmir valley today against the death of a Kashmiri student in Hyderabad on Saturday and for the return of body of Mohammad Afzal Guru. Thousands of people came out to join protests in the Srinagar city. In the afternoon, during protests a 24-year-old youth, Tahir Sofi, was killed by the 46-RR of Indian army when they opened fire at the protestors. The state chief minister has called for a probe into the killing. The leading pro-freedom leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, however, condemned the army action and paid tributes to the deceased youth. In the Srinagar city, journalists were thrashed by the police while covering the protests.
