Protests erupt in north Kashmir’s Langate

Violent protests  erupted in Langate area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, where two local militants were killed during a  gun-battle with government forces this morning.

As soon as the news spread that one of the slain militants killed in Galoora village was a local youth, scores of people in Langate hit the streets and staged a protest.

Chanting pro-freedom slogans, angry protesters clashed with the government forces by throwing rocks at them.

In retaliation government forces resorted to bursting  tear gas canisters to disperse protesters, reports said.
