Srinagar: After six months of Governor’s rule in Jammu and Kashmir, the state has come under President’s rule on Wednesday.
A proclamation was issued by the President of India Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday by virtue of which the state came under president’s rule.
The rule will come into effect from midnight.
After the 2014 elections, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) formed a coalition government in the state, which had a shaky journey.
In June, this year, the government ended when the BJP decided to pull out its support from the coalition.
The state was put under Governor’s rule immediately, continuing till today.
It is likely that the elections will be held soon in the state to elect the next government.
