PDP sends letter to governor, stakes claim to form govt with 56 MLAs

Srinagar: The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has sent a letter to Jammu and Kashmir governor, Satya Pal Malik, to set claim to form the government with 56 legislative members.

The letter reads, “As you are aware that People’s Democratic Party is the largest party in the State assembly having a strength of 29. You might have gathered from the media reports that the Congress and National Conference have also decided to extend support to our party to form a government in the State.”

The PDP, in the letter, claims that along with NC’s 15 legislative members and Congress’ 12, it has a total collective strength of 56.

Signed by the party President Mehbooba Mufti, it further adds that “it would not be possible for me to call on you immediately and this is to keep you informed that we would be seeking your convenience shortly to stake the claim for forming the government in the State.”

The Kashmir Walla needs you, urgently. Only you can do it.

We have always come to you for help: The Kashmir Walla is battling at multiple fronts — and if you don’t act now, it would be too late. 2020 was a year like no other and we walked into it already battered. The freedom of the press in Kashmir was touching new lows as the entire population was gradually coming out of one of the longest communication blackouts in the world.

We are not a big organization. A few thousand rupees from each one of you would make a huge difference.

The Kashmir Walla plans to extensively and honestly cover — break, report, and analyze — everything that matters to you. You can help us.
