Pakistan’s former President who is now Chairman of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) General (retd) Pervez Musharraf is likely to return to Pakistan in 24 hours, Geo TV reported on Thursday.

“The party leader has directed local party cadres to start preparation of his welcome,” the report further added.

The report quoted APML Secretary-General Dr. Amjad saying that the travel preparation of the party leader is in the final stage. “We are reviewing the flights schedule,” he said.

He added that Musharraf can land Pakistan anytime through a direct or connecting flight, adding that the former chief of army staff’s passport has not been un-blocked yet.

Earlier on Wednesday, Pakistan’s Supreme Court had ordered Musharraf to return to the country by 14 June as it delivered a withering rebuke for his continued absence from court.

He has not visited Pakistan since leaving for Dubai in March 2016.

Chief Justice Saqib Nisar, who is heading a three-judge bench hearing Musharraf’s appeal against the rejection of his nomination papers in the 2013 general elections, warned that if he does not show up in court by 2 p.m., a decision will be taken in absentia on his eligibility to contest elections, Geo News had reported.
