No one from Jammu and Kashmir has gone to join the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in West Asia, the state’s chief minister, Omar Abdullah said on Tuesday.
“No one from Kashmir has gone to join ISIS. According to the information I have. We have heard that a Kashmiri youth has gone from Australia to get recruited, but there is no such news of any youth having gone from here to Syria, Iraq or ISIS,” Abdullah added.
There have been a few instances of protests in Srinagar where ISIS and Al Qaeda flags were seen. So far no such official confirmation have come that anyone in the valley has joined the group or went to Iraq or Syria to be part of it. The flags, in the hands of 2-3 youth, during protests were seen only a few times.

We have always come to you for help: The Kashmir Walla is battling at multiple fronts — and if you don’t act now, it would be too late. 2020 was a year like no other and we walked into it already battered. The freedom of the press in Kashmir was touching new lows as the entire population was gradually coming out of one of the longest communication blackouts in the world.
We are not a big organization. A few thousand rupees from each one of you would make a huge difference.
