Omar Abdullah expresses dismay on Twitter over Alam’s arrest

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday expressed his dismay on Twitter over the arrest of Hurriyat (G) leader Masarat Alam.

Just after the news of Alam’s arrest broke-out, Omar questioned PDP’s change of attitude. He also took a dig at PDP-BJP government’s new recruitment policy, that has already come under sharp criticism.

He tweeted: “Masarat Alam detained under PSA & shipped to Jammu; new recruits to be paid stipend for years together & @jkpdp promised voters a CHANGE???”

In a following tweet he labeled, PDP-BJP Govt as “a change for the worse”.

Alam, who was released from jail last month after 4-years, following order of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, has been booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) for the 26th time.

Alam is facing sedition charges for taking part at a rally in Srinagar on April 15 where some participants allegedly unfurled Pakistani flags and raised slogans.

A police officer who had arrested Alam confirmed that he was shifted from Budgam to Jammu’s Kot Bhalwal jail during last night.
