National Investigation Agency (NIA) Friday summoned a Kashmir based journalist Auqib Javaid by sending a notice to the police station near his office in Srinagar.

As per the notice he has been asked to present himself at NIA headquarters in New Delhi on July 15 due to his “acquaintance with the circumstances of the case” with the case (No case No RC-17/2018/NIA/DLI DATED 27TH April, 2018). He has been asked to appear “for the purpose of his “examination relating to the case.”

Auqib is currently working with daily Kashmir Observer as a correspondent.

“It appears you are acquainted with the circumstances of the case which is under investigation by the Superintendent of Police NIA New Delhi under chapter XII code of criminal procedure, you are therefore requested to attend before the undersigned at NIA headquarters on 15 July for the purpose of your examination relating to the case,” reads NIA notice.

In shock, Auqib said that this has suddenly happened and he is preparing to leave for Delhi. “I don’t know what has happened. I was called by the police station Kothibagh, where I was given the summon. A NIA official was also present at the station. I asked them what is it about, they said it is related to some case,” he said.

His office believes that the case is regarding resistance leader Asiya Andrabi’s interview that he had conducted in past. Andrabi, the chief of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, has been taken by NIA along with her two aides to New Delhi for investigation in an alleged Sedition Case.
