Nepal Quake: Five dead in Bihar, death toll crosses 150 in Nepal


Five people, including two children, were killed when buildings collapsed in different parts of Bihar following a massive earthquake that hit several places across India and Nepal on Saturday.

Nepal’s Ministry of Home Affairs says more than 150 people have died in the capital, Kathmandu, following a 7.9 magnitude earthquake, CNN reported.

The epicentre of the earthquake is in Lamjung in Nepal.

Nitish Kumar, who reached Delhi on Friday evening, is expected to soon return to Patna. According to TV reports, NDRF teams have been sent to Bihar for relief and rescue measures.

There have been reports of houses collapsed in Uttar Pradesh too. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has also ordered schools and colleges in UP to remain shut for today.

The powerful Nepal earthquake has triggered avalanches in the Mount Everest region, according to reports.
