National Conference on Tuesday trained guns against the government, questioning the move of issuing Permanent Resident Certificates (PRCs) at the school level.

“The government must come clear over the issue of granting PRCs at the school level. Has the system that was in vogue in JK since 1927 failed to deliver that the PDP is mulling to introduce a new one in the state,” asked general secretary NC Ali Mohammad Sagar.

Talking to KNS he maintained further that there is a proper system of according PRCs to the people of the state. “A person has to apply and then a procedure is adopted to grant the state subject document. How come this new rule is in the offing? It has no ground and the government has to answer how it would keep a vigil over the schools in which it has decided to issue PRCs to kids,” Sagar said.

Over the new recruitment policy of the state government, NC general secretary said the move goes against the people of the state and especially the youth here. “The entire state is against such a policy. How come the government still is adamant to adopt it. We have seen in the past that when we introduced the policy, people in open expressed resentment over it. We immediately scraped the new job policy. Now, it is bizarre that this government is again and again experimenting with the sentiments of the unemployed youth.”

He added that already the experts have suggested that the policy would not remain ‘impartial’ in nature and that the political domination would mar the process at large. “You have the members of PSC, SSRB in open divulging the demerits of such a policy. You have the entire state opposing it with the youth in open expressing concern over it. How come the government would not listen- it has to listen and revoke the policy at an earliest.”

Over the protests done by NC for AIIMS in Jammu and supporting the Bandh call, Sagar said the measure has been taken at a local level and it was not party’s policy matter. “Some leaders might have pressed their demand but as far as the NC is concerned we believe Kashmir was in the dire need of AIIMS and that if the one is given to Jammu also, it would have no objections,” Sagar said.
