Mourners reach Pulwama to attend militant’s funeral

Srinagar: Thousands of mourners attended funeral process of a militant killed in a brief gunfight in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday.

People gathered in Koil village of Pulwama to see last glimpse of the militant, who was identified as Ishfaq Ahmed Wani.

The brief gunfight had raged between the government forces and militants in Renzipora area of Pulwama at morning, leading to Wani’s killing.

Wani was son of late Mohammad Yousuf Wani, resident of Koil village of Pulwama, who had joined militancy in last July.

Militant killed in Pulwama had MBA, own business, before picking gun

As the body of Wani, a MBA and former businessman, arrived at his ancestral home in Koil whole area burst into wailing and mourning.

People from as far as Anantnag district of South Kashmir thronged the Koil to participate in his funeral prayers, which saw massive anti-India sloganeering.
