Militants attack policemen in Kashmir; 4 dead

At least four policemen have been killed by suspected militants in north Kashmir’s volatile Sopore town- 55 kilometers from Jammu and Kashmir’s summer capital Srinagar.

A police patrol party was attacked by the suspected militants in the town.

The slain policemen have been identified as Head Constable, Abdul Rehman (86/SPR) of Tulmulla Ganderbal, Constable Mudasir (310/SPR) of Noorbagh Qamarwari, Srinagar, SPO Gulshan (322/SPO) of Kansipora Baramulla and SPO Mudasir Ahmad Parry (506/
SPO) of Kreeri Pattan.

“Four policemen, including a Hawaldar, a constable and two Special Police officers were martyred when militants fired at them near Puthkha chowki,” the Inspector General of Police (Kashmir), Abdul Ghani Mir, told a local newspaper.
