Mehbooba welcomes release of Mirwaiz from ‘arbitrary detention’

Peoples Democratic Party, President Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday welcomed the release of Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq from ‘arbitrary detention’.

Taking to her Twitter the former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir also hoped for the release of other Kashmiris from jails, “Good to hear about Mirwaiz’s release from arbitrary detention. I hope that hundreds of Kashmiri men languishing in jails in & outside J&K will also be released soon. Its time they returned home to their families,”

The 20-month preventive detention of Kashmir’s top cleric came to an end on Tuesday, Mirwaiz was among hundreds detained by New Delhi on the eve of abrogation of article-370 in August 2019.
