The students union of Maulana Azad Urdu University Hyderabad has condemned the killing of seven civilians in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district and urged the governor and government of India to initiate enquiry into the killings.
In a statement issued her the MANUU students union has unequivocally condemned the killings and termed the disregard towards human rights in Kashmir as failure of democracy in India.
“The former regimes in general and BJP in particular have’ brazenly justified the impunity to armed forces leading to huge casualties and sinking Kashmir into a chaos unseen before,” the statement read.
The students further questioned the silence of civil society, human rights defenders and political spectrum of India who have remained unmoved, “ The operation all out unfolds a monster pushing people off the edge,” the statement further read.
Adding that the Kashmir issue cannot be resolved by the barrel of gun but rather sustained effort to initiate dialogue with all stake holders.
“The dehumanizing of Kashmiri people is not going to help India. The dialogue process must be initiated and politics should not be played over the lives of people.”
Three militants were killed in a gunfight with government forces on Saturday in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Seven civilians were later killed in forces action in the same area leading to widespread anger and resentment in the Himalayan region.
