The residents of Nehama area in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district staged a demonstration outside the camp of Army’s 34 Rashtriya Rifles on Friday against damage to their property.

Eyewitnesses said that people in large numbers are demanding the removal of the Nehama camp.

People alleged that immediately after a “mysterious bang” the army went on a rampage and damaged property worth lacs.

“They thrashed people and broke everything that met their eye,” said a local Nazir Ahmad.

The locals also alleged that there was no grenade blast, it was some huge bang. “We saw nobody running, we were here all the time,” said a local.

The Jammu Kashmir police officials reached the spot to pacify the protesters, however, the protesters had blocked all the roads leading to the Nehama camp, till reports last came in.
