Authorities on Tuesday imposed curbs in various parts of Srinagar city while sealing commercial hub of Lal Chowk in Srinagar city to prevent a march called by the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) against the killing spree.
Last evening, the police had issued an advisory, asking commuters to use an alternate route as “the stretch of road from Amira Kadal to Regal Chowk will be blocked for traffic”.
Curbs have been imposed in Srinagar’s old city to restrict the movement of civilians.
At Ashai Bagh bridge in Nigeen, forces have blocked entry of all vehicles to the city centre. Similarily, in Hawal and other areas barricades have been put in place to foil the JRL call.
At many places leading to the city centre, forces have blocked roads with concertina wires and barricades.
Meanwhile, educational institutions in many parts of the Valley have been closed by the authorities today amid apprehensions of protests by the students.
Seven civilians were killed in a blast at the site of a gunfight in Laroo village of Kulgam on Sunday morning.
